Sikh bodies stage protest outside UN Headquarters #IndoPakWar

NEW YORK—Several human and civil right groups, along with the management committees of Gurdwaras across East Coast USA staged a protest in collaboration with US based human rights body Sikhs for Justice.  The protest took place on October 11 outside the United Nation’s Headquarters in New York against the Indo-Pak war.

The protesters manifested their concerns for the Indo-Pak border residents by holding placards ‘Boycott India’s Jingoistic War’ and ‘Support Punjab Referendum’.

“The war is going to directly impact the Punjabi people.  Our land is amidst a potential war, which is like none other.  With the on-going conflict between two nuclear power countries, we can see entire Punjabi community wiped off from the map,” said Jaswinder Singh from New York.

Gunpreet Singh who had come from New Jersey said, “We are seeking involvement by the United Nation so situation can be controlled.  All future actions by either country need to be stopped so Sikhs can live happily in Punjab.  If there was a Sikh sovereign state between the Indo-Pak border, we would never allow such wars.”

Protesters said that the Punjab government had made the Indo-Pak border residents refugees in their own country by ordering evacuation of their homes during the escalating Indo-Pak relations.

During the protest, Sikhs for Justice also submitted a communiqué to the Security Council of United Nations acquainting it of the demobilization of Punjab masses from Indo-Pak border for no reason.

  1. We need to have multiple Punjabs all over the Universe.
There is definite risk of Annihilation of Indian Punjab in event of a war.
