Prominent Sikh Groups Hold Important Meeting Ahead of Sarbat Khalsa and 2017 Elections

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Several Panthik groups held an important meeting at the residence of Giani Raam Singh (Jathedar, Damdami Taksal Sangrawan) to discuss the on-going challenges posed to the Panth.  The meeting was held on September 28, 2016.

Namely, along with Damdami Taksal Sangrawan chief, leaders of the Akhand Kirtani Jatha, sacked Akal Takth Sahib Punj Piare, Nirvair Khalsa Dal, Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee and others took part in the meeting.

These leaders discussed several matters at hand, including cases of Gurbani sacrilege, Sarbat Khalsa, appointment and removal of Jathedars, upcoming 2017 assembly elections, Panthik unity, etc.  The meeting was called to initiate dialogue on these issues and give guidance to the entire Panth.

Giving information about the meeting, Giani Ram Singh Sangrawan said, “We might have issues and differences between different Sikh organizations, however, it is utterly important that we have unity in the Panth and that can only be achieved by putting aside our differences.”

“Gurbani beadbi cases are on the rise and have not stopped since past year.  This is why it’s important for Panthik organizations to unite and shed differences.  We need give guidance to the entire Panth,” he told Sikh24.  He said a course of action will be announced in the coming days.

Prominent leaders who attended the meeting included Bhai Bakshish Singh (Akhand Kirtani Jatha), Bhai RP Singh (Akhand Kirtani Jatha), Bhai Harnek Singh (Sangrahoor), Bhai Sukhdev Singh Bhaur (SGPC), Bhai Raghbir Singh Rajasansi, Bhai Beant Singh (brother Shaheed Gen. Subeg Singh), Bhai Sukhjeet Singh Khose, Bhai Satnaam Singh (Nirvair Khalsa Dal) and others.
