Gurpreet Ghuggi Named AAP Punjab Convener, Investigation Committee Asks Chhotepur to Give Clarification

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Interacting with media at Chandigarh on September 3, Investigation Committee member and Co-Incharge of AAP affairs in Punjab MLA Jarnail Singh informed that the committee has begun investigation in the corruption allegations against AAP sacked state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur. He said that the committee has issued a notice to Sucha Singh Chhotepur to appear before the committee. Notably, a two member committee was appointed by the AAP’s National convener and Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal to probe the allegations against Chhotepur.

Speaking about the sting video, Jarnail Singh refused to publicize the video and said that there was no need to do so as Chhotepur had himself accepted that he accepted cash from volunteers.

He also refused allegations by Hardeep Singh Kingra about taking cash worth Rs. 50,000 from him.  “I have not met him for more than four months and there has been no interaction.  How he can give me cash in that case,” Jarnail Singh questioned.

MLA Jarnail Singh informed that AAP’s National convener and Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal was willing to give more time to Punjab masses. He informed that a suitable residence was being searched for him in Punjab to avoid his stay in Circuit Houses and Hotels. He also informed that Kejriwal was arriving in Punjab to release the ‘Farmers Manifesto’ on September 11 and probably he will arrive in Punjab 2 or 3 days prior to the release of manifesto.

Ruling out the possibility of promoting non-Punjabi leaders in Punjab, MLA Jarnail Singh said that the opposite parties were raking up a baseless issue. He said that the Party’s national leaders including Sanjay Singh and Durgesh Pathak were working round the clock to strength up the party across Punjab.

Meanwhile, the political affairs committee of the Aam Aadmi Party earlier today also appointed Gurpreet Ghuggi as its state convener.  Ghuggi will take charge next week.
