Dasvandh Network Hires Executive Director

TROY, MI, USA—US-based Dasvandh Network (DVN) has named Amrit Kaur its first executive director. The nonprofit organization focused on inspiring giving of Dasvandh in the Sikh Community says the hiring of Amrit Kaur will help further DVN’s mission. Amrit Kaur is native of Washington D.C., and has experience which stems from working in leadership positions at Deloitte, New York University and the New York City Department of Education.

“We are confident that Amrit’s experience, knowledge, and drive will further DVN’s mission. Amrit has over 10 years of experience in administration, finance, and education; within both the nonprofit and private sectors,” Dasvandh Network said in a press release on August 24.

“I am honored to join the Dasvandh Network team and excited to have the opportunity to lead this vital effort for the panth,” said Amrit. “My goals for DVN are rooted in the resurgence of the concept of Dasvandh and in building awareness of our personal and Panthik responsibility. I look forward to building from the brilliant efforts made by the DVN team over the last three years by expanding our volunteer base, fostering partnerships, and increasing funding levels for all of the projects posted on DVN. I trust that with Guru’s Kirpa, we as a team can accomplish our goals.”

“Bringing her skill set as a teacher to youth camps, she pushes to have a more elaborate and youth-focused educational environment. Amrit’s dedication has had a tremendous impact on the growth of the Sikh diaspora,” the press release stated.  “Her investment in the future and efforts for the Sikh panth has allowed her to develop an extensive network in both in the U.S. and Punjab”

Dasvandh Network is a not-for-profit, grassroots, crowd-funded platform that allows donors and causes to actively participate in the spirit of Dasvandh—the Sikh practice of contributing one-tenth of a person’s earnings to the common good of the community.  Every year in November, DVN holds an annual fundraising week where it encourages donations to different charities.  Donations are doubled during the week.  Over the past two years, DVN has helped fundraise over $300,000 for different Sikh causes.
