Governor V.P. Singh Badnore Pays Obeisance At Sri Harmandir Sahib

AMRITSAR SAHIB—The newly appointed Governor of Punjab, V.P. Singh Badnore, reached the holy city of Amritsar Sahib on August 23 to pay obeisance at the sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib. Governor V.P Singh was presented the ‘Karah Prasad’ and listened to the melodious Kirtan on this occasion.

The executive members of the SGPC, Rajinder Singh Mehta and Sulakhan Singh Bhangali (Manager of Sri Harmandir Sahib) honoured the Governor with a Siropao (Robe of Honour), a model of Sri Harmandir Sahib, a Lohi and religious books at the Information centre.

Interacting with the media on this occasion, Governor V.P Singh Badnore said that he had a wish to pay obeisance at the sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib for a long time. ‘I feel lucky that I am able to pay obeisance at the sanctum sanctorum quickly after taking oath as the Governor of Punjab,’ he added.

On being asked about the dispute between Punjab and Haryana over Chandigarh, Governor V.P Singh said that he would soon talk about it but now he has been in the sanctum sanctorum to pay obeisance along with his family.

Shwet Malik (Member of Rajya Sabha), Police Commissioner A.S Chahal, S. Gurpartap Singh Tikka, Sukhbir Singh, Iqbal Singh, and Harpreet Singh were present on this occasion.
