Dr. Navjot Kaur: Navjot Sidhu Wants To Serve Punjab And AAP Is An Ultimate Option

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Interacting with the media on July 19th in Amritsar, Dr. Navjot Kaur (wife of Navjot Sidhu) confirmed that her husband Navjot Sidhu has left the saffron party BJP. The confusion over Navjot Sidhu quitting from the BJP’s basic membership remained even after he resigned from the Rajya Sabha.

Replying to a query pertaining to the resignation of Navjot Sidhu from basic membership of the BJP, Dr. Navjot Kaur said that if her husband resigned from Rajya Sabha’s membership, that means he has also quit the BJP.

Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu maintained that her husband Navjot Sidhu wanted to serve Punjab and he acquainted the core leadership of BJP about his wish.  “BJP’s leadership continued to ignore his wish to serve Punjab due to which he had to step out from the Party,” she added.

Giving end to speculations about her quittance from BJP, Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu clarified that she would continue on the post of Chief Parliamentary Secretary and MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) from East Amritsar in Punjab.  “I don’t know what is Sidhu’s plan ahead, but what I know is that he wants to serve Punjab and we will acquaint the masses about our decision soon.  An AAP maybe an option.” she said. 

There has been a mix responsible to Sidhu joining the Aam Aadmi Party.  Former AAP leader from Patiala, Dr. Dharamvira Gandhi asked how Navjot Sidhu could serve Punjab, especially the Sikhs, if they continued to spread ideology of the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat.  In a post on his Facebook account, Dr. Gandhi said inclusion of Sidhu in AAP could prove dangerous, not only to the AAP, but to general Punjabi people.

Ashutosh, a senior AAP leader however said that while Sidhu may not be the Chief Minister candidate, he could play a big role in promoting the party during the 2017 elections.  He however said a ticket will not be granted to both husband and wife since it was against the bylaws of the Aam Aadmi Party.
