Indian Government In Attempt To Ban Whatsapp In India

NEW DELHI— In an another attempt to crush the civil liberty rights, the Indian government has started efforts Whatsappto ban the most usable messaging application Whatsapp in India. In past, the Indian Government has deleted Facebook accounts of pro-freedom bodies to suppress their voice.  Last year, Sikh24’s Facebook fanpage with over 450,000 likes was blacklisted in several parts of India.

Similarly, the Government is now seeking a ban on Whatsapp.  A petition was moved into the Supreme Court will be heard this Wednesday, June 29, to seek ban on ‘End to End Encryption’ feature in Whatsapp that makes the messages untraceable.

The feature was added in Whatsapp earlier this year and has now been rolled into India as well.  The Indian Government has stated in its petition that this feature allows there to be an increase in chances for the application to be misused by Terrorist groups.

Indian Government has stated that Whatsapp encryption method breaks the country’s laws.
