PICTORIAL: June 21 observed as an ‘International Gatka Diwas’

AMRITSAR SAHIB—Sikh Sangat in Punjab and abroad observed June 21 as International Gatka Diwas.  Sarbat Khalsa Jathedars, along with other prominent Sikh leaders had given a call to the Sikh masses to organize Gatka programs and refrain from taking part of the ‘International Yoga Day’ as it promotes Hindutva ideology.  Gatka is the Sikh martial arts which was designed by Baba Buddha Ji and passed over to Guru Hargobind Sahib to develop physical, as well as spiritual well-being.

In order to celebrate ‘International Gatka Diwas’, besides various cities, towns and villages of Punjab, Sikhs in United States also exhibited their skills in Gatka.  The California Gatka Dal akharas across California and nearby states also organized programs to showcase their gatka skills.

Following are some pictures of Gatka programs organized on June 21 in Sri Amritsar.
