Dhadrianwale Maintains Pressure on Punjab Government; Chief Minister Assures Justice

dateline:Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Badal met Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale earlier today on May 22 at Gurdwara Parmeshar Dwar.  Badal expressed deep concern over the recent attack on Bhai Dhadrianwale and his jatha and assured of speedy investigations.  He told Dhadrianwale that the Government has already nabbed 8 persons who were main conspirators of the attack.  Dhadrianwale has however demanded the Chief Minister to publicize all details of the attack and name the masterminds before May 26.

Badal arrived at Gurdwara Parmeshar Dwar amidst tight security and remained there for almost 45 minutes.  He spoke with Bhai Dhadrianwale for about 30 minutes, during which he asked the latter to take Government provided security.  Badal condemned the incident and said he was concerned about the safety of Bhai Dhadrianwale.  He said police was working day and night to investigate the matter as he assured Bhai Dhadrianwale that justice will be delivered.

Badal has in past called Bhai Dhadrianwale at least twice to speak about progress being made in the case.  The attack on Dhadrianwale and his Jatha has put the Punjab Government in a very tight spot as all investigations have linked to involvement of Baba Harnaam Singh Dhumma in the attack.  Dhumma is an ally of the Akali Dal and so far, the Government has not publicly acknowledged any hand by Dhumma.  Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale on the other hand have given an ultimatum to the Punjab Government to provide all details of the attack until May 26, otherwise, Sikh activists would launch peaceful protests across Punjab.

Earlier, on May 19, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal also paid a visit to Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale at his residence on Patiala-Sangrur road. Sukhbir Badal arrived in a chopper at the Gurdwara Parmeshwar Dwar amid strict security measures. Sources informed Sikh24 that the administration kept information about Sukhbir Badal’s visit confidential in fear of opposition by the followers of Bhai Dhadrianwale.

Sukhbir had offered Bhai Dhadrianwale his own security convey, led by IG Paramraj Umranang, however, the offer was refused as Dhadrianwale insisted that until all investigations were complete, he would not comply with any requests by the Government.  Sukhbir was accompanied by IG Umranangal, SSP Gurmeet Chauhan, and Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra.

Sukhbir told Bhai Dhadrianwale that the Director General of Police, Suresh Arora, was looking after the case and soon, all the accused will be behind bars. He reiterated that no one will be allowed to disturb the law and order of Punjab at any cost.

Also on Sunday, former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal demanded President’s rule in Punjab, citing “deteriorating law and order situation” after she visited Dhadrianwale.  A number of leaders from other political parties, including Aam Aadmi Party senior leaders have visited Bhai Dhadrianwale in the past few days following the attack.
