Sarbat Khalsa Jathedars Pay Obeisance at Hazoor Sahib; Bhai Mand Announces to set up Akal Takht Secretariat

NANDED, Maharashtra, India—Akal Takht Sahib acting-Jathedar, Bhai Dhian Singh Mand has announced to set up a parallel Secretariat near Sri Harmandir Sahib.

Talking with Sikh24’s correspondent on May 4, Bhai Mand said that the secretariat would be used to deliver customary addresses to the Sikh community on designated occasions.  “Sikh Sangat can also approach the secretariat in case of urgent cases that need attention of the Panth,” he added.

Sarbat Khalsa appointed Jathedars are currently touring the five Takhts, starting from Takht Sri Hazur Sahib.  All three Singh Sahibs were honoured by the Hazoor Sahib Sikh community, including Sri Hazoor Sahib Jathedar Giani Kulwant Singh.  Akali Nihung Baba Prem Singh, Baba Balwinder Singh and Baba Narinder Singh also bestowed honour to the Jathedars on May 3.

Following their visit to Sri Hazoor Sahib, the Jathedars will visit Takht Sri Patna Sahib on May 7, Sri Akal Takht Sahib on May 10, Sri Kesgarh Sahib on May 13 and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib on May 15.

Giani Kulwant Singh and other senior leaders were invited to attend Sarbat Khalsa this year at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib.

Bhai Dhian Singh Mand was appointed as an acting Jathedar in absence of Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara during the Sarbat Khalsa held at village Chabba last year on November 10.  Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara was elected as Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib while Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal and Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala were elected as Jathedars of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib and Sri Kesgarh Sahib respectively.
