KHADOOR SAHIB, Punjab—Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) candidate Ravinder Singh Brahmpura has won the Khadoor Sahib byelection held on Feb 13 with a margin of 65, 664 votes, defeating Congress participant Bhupinder Singh Bittu, an independent candidate, who received 17,416 votes.
Interestingly, as many as 2252 voters pressed button of NOTA of electronic voting machines disliking all seven candidates. AAP dissident Dr. Sumail Singh Sidhu, also an independent candidate, only received 2243 votes, securing forth place.
To preotest against the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib and the Behbal Kalan killings, the Congress party opted out of the fray and the AAP had also decided to stay away from the contest to be able to concentrate on state assembly elections of 2017. In the absence of both major parties, the bypoll became a one-sided contest where victory of the SAD was already expected.
However, a low turnout of 58.46 percent, has been an embarrassment for the SAD (B), which had expected that the polling would be at more than 80 percent attendance.
The bypoll was necessitated as Congress leader Ramanjit Singh Sikki resigned as MLA of Khadoor Sahib constituency, in protest against the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib in village Baath, falling in the constituency.

Message: The verses refer to the innate nature of the moth and the deer. The overriding desire in the moth for light, leads it towards burning candles and hot artificial lights. Hiding in a bush, the hunter produces the sound that lures the deer towards him. It is shot and killed. Neither the moth nor the deer has control over their desire.
How many of us actually have a vision of where we are headed in life? We make many decisions without careful thought only to regret the consequences later. There is a saying “like a moth to a flame”, which is used to describe a person with an unswerving yet self-destructive attraction. Is human behavior sometimes not similar to what is described above? Should we not be more focused on our line of vision – to see where our decisions are taking us – before we get burned? Really debating with you is like wrestling a pig in mud. We both end up dirty and only one of us actually enjoys it (and it isn’t me). The photo of these villains is really quite revealing as they accept saropas and flowers for winning a seat that ONLY became available when the sitting MLA called a by-election in protest against the sacrileges against Guru Granth Sahib and then as a matter of principle boycotted the election as the matter had not been resolved (other than the Badals police rounding up and torturing innocent Sikh youth as scapegoats). ‘Punjab is shining under Badal’? Punjab is on the verge of bankruptcy (whilst its BJP stooges the Badals have engorged and enriched themselves to the point where they are running out of Swiss banks to deposit their spoils from monopolies, patronage and alleged involvement in drug trafficking), its ground water is heavily polluted (not just by pesticides but by uranium when the PUnjab does not even possess a single nuclear power plant) which correlates with a proportional rise in both infant mortality, genetic abnormalities and disabilities in newborns, the State has the highest rate both of female infanticide and drug addiction in India (the latter is particularly galling when you consider the border with Pakistan is the most heavily defended) and to top it all Sikh scriptures are being torn in the streets of the Sikh homeland and when Sikhs protest they are in turn shot dead by police officers who are in turn absolved of any culpability. Not to mention the massive migration of Sikh youth out of the country. All of this under Badal’s watch but everything is fine? Then again you do believe in the fairy tales of flying talking monkey kings fighting multi headed demons as being real historical events as well don’t you, ‘Harinder’.

Over seven lakh “ghost” voters of the total 1.9 crore voters have been detected in Punjab under Badal’s watch. It was for the first time in the electoral history of Punjab that such a large number of fake voters had surfaced in a brief period of eight months — March till October-end 2015. The Election Commission was forced to go in for mass deletion of such votes. In the past, the Election Commission used to delete around 1.5 lakh votes in a year mainly on account of death or migration of voters to other states. Badal’s Punjab Government cannot and will not put the police officers who murdered these Sikhs into the firing line of justice as those officers (who remain anonymous even when supposedly arraigned!) would then name their superiors who gave them the orders and authorisation to shoot which goes back up through the ranks (all riddled with corruption) to the blood soaked hands of the Badals themselves.
