Amritsar Court rejects Bail plea of Bhai Dhian Singh Mand

Jathedar Dhian SinghAMRITSAR SAHIB—Bail plea of acting-Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib (appointed by ‘Sarbat Khalsa-2015’) Bhai Dhian Singh Mand was yesterday rejected by the Amritsar Court. Bhai Dhian Singh Mand is currently being confined in maximum security jail of Nabha.

His bail plea was rejected by the Court of Additional Session Judge Harpreet Kaur Randhawa who is hearing the case of sedition charges against ‘Sarbat Khalsa-2015’ organizers.

It is notable here that with rejection of bail plea by the Session Court of Amritsar, the way to lodge bail plea in the Punjab & Haryana High Court has been paved for Jathedar Dhian Singh Mand. Rejection of bail by the lower court is necessary to move the plea in High Court.

The Punjab & Haryana High Court had earlier taken strict notice of the registration of sedition charges against organizers of ‘Sarbat Khalsa-2015’ organizers. United Akali Dal’s President Bhai Mohkam Singh and General Secretary Bhai Gurdeep Singh Bathinda were granted bail by the court after their application was denied in the lower case.

Meanwhile, Bhai Mohkam Singh has announced to lodge defamation case against the administrators responsible for leveling sedition charges against organizers of ‘Sarbat Khalsa-2015’.

  1. Well of course they refuse his plea – the man is clearly a Sikh isn’t he? That means he is by default ‘guilty’ of breathing Indian air or whatever spurious anti-national charge comes to mind and must prove his ‘innocence’ whilst he is incarcerated and abused. We have come to the Kafkaesque point where the foremost Indian martyred patriots who founded the country were Sikhs and yet now to be a Sikh is in itself considered an act of sedition?!
