Portugal to Decide on Bhai Pamma’s Case on February 15

LISBON, Portugal—During the court hearing today, a team of senior officials of the Punjab police submitted Bhai Paramjit Singh Pamma’s extradition papers.  The court will now submit the paperwork to the Ministry of Justice, which will decide upon the case by February 15.

The Punjab Police is demanding Bhai Paramjit Singh Pamma’s extradition from the Portuguese government in the murder case of RSS’s Punjab Chief Rulda Singh.  Punjab Police had earlier alleged Bhai Pamma’s name in two additional cases, however later dropping them due to lack of evidence.

Sources have revealed that the Punjab police, via the Indian government, have convinced the Portugal government that Bhai Pamma will not be given capital punishment or imprisonment of more than 25 years if found guilty by courts in India.

Bhai Paramjit Singh Pamma was arrested from Portugal on December 18 by Interpol.

Bhai Pamma’s family has appealed to EU officials, including the Portugal Government to send him back to the UK, where he enjoys political asylum.  They fear that Pamma’s fate will be similar to that of Prof. Davinder Pal Singh Bhullar, who was given unfair trail in India and sentenced to death after his deportation from Germany.

  1. Everyone knows how corrupt the Indian police and the government is. There are two standards one for the poor and one for the rich. The Portuguese government should know this by now. Pamma should be sent back to uk under police escort

  2. Very well explained above. Portugese Authority must have knowledge of what happened with Prof Davinderpal Singh Bhullar when he was sent back under same circumstances and look what happened.
Punjab Police and the Indian authorities can do nothing but lie which other two additional cases…. they are doing their best get him back as M Singh says even if it throwing him back of a lorry and carting him back. It unfortunate for them they cannot get to his family otherwise the above said by M Singh would definitely happen. I cannot understand that how these Western so called much intellegent authorities cannot still understand Indian tactics….. Waheguru be with Mr Paramjit Singh and please grant justice to your Sikh. Best wishes always to his family and anyone who supports him.

  3. Another 20 days of detention and stress?! Utterly disgraceful how long Portugal judicial system is taking to release Bhai Pamma. The four Punjab Police Officers (cleanshaven under their just for show turbans) must be scratching their heads in complete bewilderment at how long this is all taking as well. Except of course they are thinking ‘in all this time we could have bundled Pamma into back of car, driven him to police station, beaten and tortured him then gone back to his house and arrested his wife, children, cat, dog, neighbours, postman, any curious passersby, even that meandering cow chewing too lopsidedly for our liking, done a little rape (not the cow – it is holy) and beaten a confession from Pamma confessing he was that man on the grassy knoll. Oh, wait they are not allowed to say all that. Must remember the mantra we have to keep repeating whilst we are in Portugal – ‘we will be nice, we will follow the law, we will not torture Pamma, we will not find him automatically guilty even though he is a Sikh, we will not hang him or torment him to the point where he commits suicide in the prison where we will not deny him his human rights (even though he is a Sikh), we promise, cross our hearts and hope to die. We hope to die not Pamma. Of course not. Pamma will not die. We as Indian Police promise we will not kill him in custody. Maybe ‘escaping’ custody. No, we must be strong and resist that temptation. If you give us Pamma even though we don’t really have any evidence to have him extradicted (but the extra twenty days you have given us is much appreciated, we can do quite a lot of printing in that time) we promise to buy some of your Portuguese crap (like we did with France). No wait, a minute that is the unsaid understanding. What we really mean is if you just give him to us – maybe give us the key to his cell and we’ll do the rest, Air India flight can be kept waiting as it is used to it for politicians, nudge, nudge – we promise not to find him guilty straight away and we will definitely, absolutely not torture him or hang him. You can trust us, I mean the Germans did and with their experience of the Gestapo type police arrests and courts they really should have known better, right?’.
