Tributes Paid To Met Police Officer Who Died While Travelling Home From His Shift

LONDON, UK—Tributes have been paid to a serving Metropolitan Police officer who collapsed and died on his way home from duty.

PC Sahib Lalli, 38, was found collapsed in Trafalgar Square at about 6am on Friday morning and was treated at the scene by paramedics from London Ambulance Service.

He was taken to a south London hospital where he later died.

Paying tribute, superintendent Ray Rogers from Westminster police said: “PC Sahib Lalli was an extremely popular and very well-liked officer.

“He had an exceptional record in response policing and had worked across many different teams, including neighbourhood policing and operations in Leicester Square.

“Everyone is shocked by Sahib’s tragic death at such a young age. Our thoughts remain with Sahib’s family at this difficult time.”

Prankster and comedian Jack Jones expressed his shock at the death of PC Lalli and shared a picture of the pair together.

Posting to his three million followers on Facebook, he said: “I couldn’t believe it when I heard, I literally just started crying & still can’t stop, he was the loveliest man in the world & the nicest police officer a lot of you may remember him from a few of my videos, he always said never stop what you’re doing you’re making a lot of people smile including myself, but now he has left us and it’s so hard to take in, R.I.P and God bless to your family & friends love you man going to miss you.”

Others, including many Metropolitan Police Service officers, have expressed their condolences on Twitter.

PC Lalli’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
