CHANDIGARH, Punjab—President of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), Simranjit Singh Mann, has moved a petition in Punjab & Haryana High Court against the Punjab police for mishandling and forcefully arresting him. He has moved the petition via Advocate Ranjan Lakhanpal. The hearing of the petition is expected to be held during next week.
The High Court had a issued notice in January 2008 that one week prior notice must be issued in order for an arrest warrant be executed for Simranjit Singh Mann. But following the ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ on November 10, the Punjab police arrested him, against Court orders, on November 15.
