LUDHIANA, Punjab—Founders of Team INSAAF, Simarjit Singh Bains (MLA) and brother Balwinder Singh Bains have written a letter to President of India Pranab Mukherjee, to apprise him of the atrocities being committed on Sikh activists by the Akali government.
The duo explained the crisis in Punjab following the desecration incidents and the injustice metted to Sikhs by the Akali government. They explained the armed crack down of Punjab police on peacefully protesting Sikhs, leaving two dead in Bargadi, and the aftermath of Punjab following the onslaught of brutality by the Punjab government.
The also explained in the letter that not even a single culprit responsible for the desecration of Holy Scriptures was arrested, whilst two innocent Sikh brothers were framed in the Bargadi incident, who were later released with charges dropped.
Explaining the atrocities of the Punjab government, they explained in the letter that the right of freedom of speech and expression is also being refused to peacefully protesting Sikhs due to the leveling of sedition charges against them.
The duo has sought the intervention of the President in Punjab against the misuse of administrative powers by the Akali government. A copy of the letter has been also sent to the Governor of Punjab.
