Canadian Sikh Veerender Jubbal’s selfie was digitally altered to make it appear he was involved in the Paris attacks
TORONTO, Canada—An innocent Sikh man was wrongly accused of being involved in the Paris attacks after a photoshopped image was shared around the world.
Veerender Jubbal, a freelance journalist from Canada, was left shocked after a photo he posted online was digitally altered without his knowledge.
That’s an iPad, not a Quran, and the Dastar (turban) is worn by Sikhs. pic.twitter.com/xkKzJ0G65f

The selfie was changed to show him wearing a ‘suicide vest’, while his iPad had been replaced with a book resembling the Koran.
He has threatened to sue media outlets after one of Spain’s biggest newspapers printed a photo of him in an article about the Paris attacks.
“One of the terrorists may have entered Greece along with Syrian refugees. The unidentified attackers were between 15 and 18 years and acted in three teams,” read the text next to his image in Madrid-based newspaper La Razón.
I hope everyone has caught up with what is going on with me. I went viral due to a photoshopped image claiming I am a terrorist.

Mr Jubbal said the doctored image has been seen by “millions of people”, adding that the altered image had put him in danger.
“Let us start with basics. Never been to Paris. Am a Sikh dude with a turban. Lives in Canada,” he added.
