NEW DELHI—Various Sikh organizations and leaders came together to hold a convention in New Delhi to discuss the pardon granted to Gurmeet Ram Rahim by the appointed Takht Jathedars.  While 1098253__d101915630Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh and Giani Kewal Singh, along with other Panthik personalities were in attendance, notably large influence from Paramjit Sarna was noticed throughout the conference.  The convention was held at the Mavlankar Auditorium in Connaught Place.

A number of decisions were taken at the convention, including the resolution to annul the decision of exonerating Gurmeet Ram Rahim. The convention also proposed to hold Sarbat Khalsa at such a place where the Akali Dal (Badal) couldn’t create an obstacle.

Paramjit Sarna (President, Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi) said that the Jathedars demolished the Sikh traditions by pardoning Gurmeet Ram Rahim. He blamed the appointed Jathedars for playing into Government’s hands while pardoning Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

Sikh Historian S. Gurdarshan Singh Dhillon said that Britishers taught three lessons to Hindu leaders to enslave Sikhs.  “First was to detach Sikhs from Guru Granth Sahib, second was to dominate over Sikh organizations in direct or indirect manner and third was to promote Sikhs with dissent towards the Sikh philosophy,” he added.  Favouring the call for Sarbat Khalsa, he said that the wrath among Sikh masses after Jathedars’ move is Sarbat Khalsa in itself.

Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh and Giani Kewal Singh said that the Jathedars have sledgehammered the customs of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. They said that Sri Akal Takht Sahib is supreme than all Courts of world, but by exonerating Sirsa Cult Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim without asking him to appear at the Takht Sahib, the Jathedars have disrespected the Sikh tenets.

Bhai Dhian Singh Mand, Bhai Mohkam Singh, Bhai Gurinderpal Singh Dhanaula said that Sarbat Khalsa was an attempt to diversify the Sikh power. Bhai Kuldeep Singh Damdami Taksal, Bhai Harinder Singh Alwar, Bhai S.P Singh, Bhai Inderjit Singh Kanpur, Bhai Jagdish Singh Jhinda also addressed the Sikh gathering on this occasion.

  1. Sarbat khalsa can no more be conducted in Delhi or Amritsaras Sikhs live in every corner of the world.
It can at the best be called Delhi Sikhs Sarbat khalsa.

    • Clearly, you don’t understand the concept of Sarbat Khalsa. It is where all major Sikh groups get together and Sikhs from different areas are represented by their leadership. Not every Sikh needs to be a participant. Shame on you for even having a Sikh name. You are a disgrace to your own community.
