GWALIOR, India—Bandi Chhor Diwas of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji was observed at Gurdwara Data Bandi Chhor in Gawalior.  A large congregation of Sikh devotees attended the religious programs from far and near.

A number of prominent Ragis and Dhadis shared the stage.  In addition to traditional celebrations, local sevadars also organized a play, along with a dastar-tying competition and camp.  Awards and certificates were given out to the participants.  Manjit Singh, a dastar coach from Firozepur, was invited specially to help with the competition.

Baba Sewa Singh of Gurdwara Data Bandi Chhor while speaking with Sikh24 informed that every year Sikh sangat arrives in large numbers to celebrate Bandi Chhor.  “It feels like a festival and local sangat eagerly awaits the day with lots of fervor,” he added.  “Every year, we replace the Nishan Sahib chola, but only one of them.  Chola sahib of the Nishan Sahib representing ‘Miri’ is changed,” he added.

He informed that students of Baba Uttam Singh Gurmukh Singh Public School addressed the Sikh sangat with melodious kirtan this year.  These students also represented a play.
