Capt. Amrinder Singh Slams Modi for disrespecting Nelson Mandela; South Africa Files Defamation Case

Amarinder-SinghNEW DELHI—Head of a Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, Capt. Amrinder Singh slammed the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s act of disrespecting Nelson Mandela by terming Parkash Badal as ‘Nelson Mandela of Punjab’.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Captain questioned how Modi can compare a totalitarian like Badal with Nelson Mandela who spent 27 years of his life fighting against partiality under colour and creed.

Captain added that Badal didn’t even spend 27 months in jail and whenever he did, he used it as a safe haven.

Meanwhile, the county South Africa has decided to file a defamation case against Narendra Modi in the International Court of Justice, Hague.  Following the statement by PM Modi, the hashtag #YoBadalSoMandela was seen as trending on Twitter.  Twitter users used the hashtag to express their distress with the Government of Punjab and to protest against the Prime Minister’s statement.
