ANANDPUR SAHIB, Punjab—Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, who recently survived a deadly attack, has alleged that some mischievous elements are playing dirty politics on the issue of pardoning Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

Clarifying his approach towards Sirsa Cult Chief, he stated that he signed the pardoning order in the larger interests of Sikh Panth which has faced a huge loss in the past eight years. He stated that the social fabric across state was torn in the past eight years.

He clarified that the revised decision about pardoning Sirsa Cult Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim will also be taken by the five Takht Jathedars.

It may be recalled that Sirsa Cult Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim had indulged into blasphemous act insulting pious Sikh traditions in May, 2007. In wake of widespread outrage against Sirsa Cult Chief, the Akal Takht Jathedar had issued an edict against Gurmeet Ram Rahim. The Sikh sangat at that time supported and followed the edict. But the recent move of five Takht Jathedars to exonerate Gurmeet Ram Rahim has sparked a sharp wrath among Sikh sangat. Panthik bodies are on toes to eliminate five Jathedars from their posts. Planning to call ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ is under consideration.

  1. The five Jathedars are now five stooges of their political masters. They are slaves of slaves. These shameless minions have no self respect and have totally forgotten the glorious traditions of khalsa. In India they are now under Indian security, but outside the country, Sikh women under the banner of Mai Bhago Brigade are waiting with high heel shoes to do a chhittar parade of these worthless human beings who are servants of Fakhre-Qoum tout traitor Badal.

  2. Akal Takth is a divine house.
Its call for pardon is very much in line of Sikhi principles.
To question its wisdom would require holding a direct discussion with God and for that we will need to go to heaven which is a one way ticket.

  3. Only if it is according to Sikhi. If Akal Takhat passes an edict that you are an illegitimate child of your father, would you still make the same statement?
