Akal Takht Jathedar: New Gurdwaras Must Seek Permission Before Operation; Bhai Balbir Singh Banned from doing kirtan

AMRITSAR SAHIB—Giani Gurbachan Singh, the appointed Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, issued a number of directives to the Sikhs living at home and abroad on Thursday, September 10.

No New Gurdwara Allowed Without Prior Permission

In a significant development, Jathedar stated that no new Gurdwaras be constructed without prior permission being sought from the Akal Takht Sahib.  The new directive has come as a surprise, since this is being directed at not only the India based community but the rest of the world as well.

Ban on Kirtan by former Hazoori Ragi

Jathedar stated that Bhai Balbir Singh (Hazoori Ragi) was also banned from preaching or doing Kirtan until allegation leveled against him for anti-Sikh activities were cleared.  Two videos had surfaced online showing Bhai Balbir Singh sitting in feet of Noormehal based cult head Ashutosh Jha.

He further communicated that mobile phone companies must desist from using the word ‘song’ when naming a shabad file for ringtones. He has pointed out that the word ‘Shabad’ be used.
