NANDED, Maharashta, India—Sikh sangat of Maharashtra has strongly condemned the management’s move to render security services of Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib to a private security company. The Sikh sangat yesterday submitted a memorandum to Jathedar Singh Sahib Giani Kulwant Singh expressing wrath over the management’s decisions. Sikh24 has learned that the Hazoor Sahib board has decided to give the contract to a private firm at double costs.
According to information available from reliable sources, the decision to hire a security firm was taken in a meeting of Sri Hazoor Sahib Management Committee under leadership of President S. Tara Singh. SGPC President Jathedar Avtar Singh Makkar was also present in this meeting.
The Sikh sangat has made the objection over hiring security services at the cost of Rs. 15.6 million yearly from K.G. Security ignoring the proposal of its competent agency Om Sai of 7.1 million rupees only. Sikh sangat asserted that security of Gurdwara Sahib could also be maintained by hiring Sikh youth that would cost very low.
The Sikh sangat also objected over reinstating former Head Granthi of Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib Giani Partap Singh by alleging that he was creating disturbance at Takht Sri Patna Sahib. Local Sikhs stated that Giani Partap Singh was into the caste system and was causing issues among the local sangat.
