Pakistan to Name Govt Property with Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh

Lahore, Pakistan—The state government of western Punjab (Pakistan) has accepted the proposal of naming roads or buildings in Lahore under the name of Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The demand was raised in the western Punjab’s state assembly by the first Sikh member S. Ramesh Singh Arora. S. Arora even claimed in the assembly that some properties in Lahore still exists on the name of Maharaja Ranjit Singh that couldn’t be clarified till now due to the disorganisation of the government department.  

Explaining the achievements of Maharaja Ranjit Singh for creating healthy, secular and safe society, S. Ramesh Singh Arora appealed that the Government property be placed under his name. Law Minister of Western Punjab Rana Snah Ullah confirmed the development and informed that the opposition has also approved it.

Talking to correspondent of ‘Sikh24’, S. Ramesh Singh Arora declared it a historical achievement that will refresh the memories of Khalsa Raj led by Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee has warmly welcomed the decision of State government of western Punjab in Pakistan. A delegation of SGPC which is on visit to Pakistan to evaluate needs for the Kar Sewa of Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib, honoured S. Ramesh Singh Arora outside the Assembly premises of western Punjab. Secretary of SGPC Dr. Roop Singh, Bhai Nirmail Singh Jaulan, Bhai Mohan Singh Bangi and Bhai Rajinder Singh Ruby were also present at the honouring.
