AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Wednesday asked former Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti to vacate his 51-years old house located at the Darbar Sahib complex.  Giani Vedandi has been residing in this house since 1964.

Sri Darbar Sahib manager Giani Partap Singh went to Giani Vedanti’s house and asked him to lift his belongings and vacate the premises as the latter was no longer an SGPC employee.  Sikh24 has learned that Giani Vedanti has already relocated his belongings to a nearby relative’s house.

The SGPC officials maintained that the decision has been taken to start work of demolishing shops upon which Vedanti’s residence situated, besides that of Sri Darbar Sahib’s incumbent head Granthi Giani Jagtar Singh, additional head Granthi Giani Jagtar Singh Ludhiana, Granthi Giani Ravel Singh and Giani Amarjit Singh.   Incumbent Singh Sahibs will be allotted temporary housing until the construction work finishes.

When contacted, Giani Vedanti said he had talked many a times with SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar on the issue but received no response. “Today, I have also tried to contact him but failed to do so.”

truly sad that a Gem Gurmukh treated as such, in our most sanctified Guru Ghar, because of authorities who do not value Truthful Living
