Akali Leadership indicates to revert Panthik agenda at Jathedar Talwandi’s Death Anniversary

LUDHIANA, Punjab—The views expressed by various leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) during the function organized to mark the first death anniversary of ‘Iron man’ Jathedar Jagdev Singh Talwandi, have given indications that the SAD may revert Panthik agenda in upcoming Punjab assembly elections of 2017 to woo Sikh voters.

Almost all ‘taksali’ Akali leaders including Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Bibi Jagir Kaur, Prem Singh Chandumajra, Balwant Singh Ramoowalia, Charanjit Singh Atwal, Tota Singh, Avtar Singh Makkar, Sharnjit Singh Dhillon attended the function to pay tribute to the former SAD and SGPC president.

It appeared in the program that the SAD senior leadership has decided to mobilize Sikhs, the traditional vote bank of theirs, in favour of the party. Particularly, Shukhdev Singh Dhindsa emphasized on the point that memorial of the SAD leaders should be built.

Parkash Badal announced to open a Skill Development Institute in memory of Jathedar Talwandi in Basian Kothi of Maharaja Dalip Singh. Some other leaders raised their voice in favour of old Akali leaders.
