Kumar Vishwas Draws Flak for Using Derogatory Terminology for Sant Bhindranwale

JALLANDHAR, Punjab—Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas has drawn flak for his comments against Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.  Vishwas had recently referred to Sant Bhindranwale as a “Bhasmasur” (demon).  A clip of a TV interview has surfaced online, in which Vishwas uses this derogatory term.  Sikhs in large numbers have condemned Vishwas’ statement, asking whether they should really support the AAP if it’s going to play with Sikh sentiments.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) has also taken a strict notice of Kumar Vishwas’ derogatory language.  In a press note shared with Sikh24, General Secretary Jaskaran Singh Kahan Singh Wala stated that the Aam Admi Party has exploited the Sikh sentiments by referring to Sikh saints and warriors using abusing language.

Kahan Singh Wala stated that Hindus like Kumar Vishwas have forgotten the sacrifices made by the Sikh community.  “Ninth Sikh Guru Teg Bahadur Ji sacrificed his life for the existence of Hindu community,” he added.  He questioned if AAP is really secular or if it also follows the “saffron agenda” of fanatic Hindu organizations.

This is not the first time that Kumar Vishwas is amidst a controversy.  Earlier this year, while condemning the release of Masarat Aalam, Kumar Vishwar referred to him as an ‘enemy of the country’ and demanded his extra-judicial killing.
