LUDHIANA, Punjab—Gurjinder Singh Sahni, senior leader of the Sikh Youth Federation for Justice and legal counsel of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, said that it was grave injustice that Sanjay Datt continues to receive parole despite being sentenced under TADA; however, Sikh political prisoners find no similar relief.

Sahni stated that Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa has been on hunger protest since January 16 to seek release of such political prisoners who have completed their court sentences, however they have still not been released.  Many of these prisoners were sentenced under TADA, a draconian law that was used to charge prisoners during the days of militancy in Punjab.

Sahni stated that it was grave injustice that relief was not being provided to Sikh prisoners.  He alleged that ‘sangharsh’ or struggle for the release of political prisoners will continue until their release.
