Interim Postmortem Report Reveals Former Akali Leader Was Murdered

ROPAR, Punjab—Interim postmortem report by the doctors has revealed that Jagtar Singh Bhaini did not commit suicide; instead he was murdered.  “No water in the lungs and an injury on the forehead indicates that he was murdered,” the report reads further.  Doctors informed that internal organs have been sent for chemical examination, so the final report will clear the matter.

Jagtar Singh Bhaini

It may be recalled that Youth Akali leader Jagtar Singh Bhaini from Sri Anandpur Sahib was missing since August 8. His belongings were found near the Army Bridge on the Bhakhra Canal. Later, after four days, his dead body was found from the canal near Khanauri village of Sangrur district on August 12.

Meanwhile, the Ropar police has registered a murder case and a three member Special Investigation Team has been appointed to probe into the case.

From the very first day of Bhaini’s missing, his family alleged a conspiracy behind his missing and has refused to accept that he had committed suicide. Bhaini was facing charges in many cases, including a case of selling Gurdwara Keshgarh Sahib’s land by preparing forged documents. He was also involved in a clash with the local Akali-BJP leadership of his constituency.
