India Home Minister’s Office Extends SIT Tenure by Six Months

1984riots_car248NEW DELHIā€”The office of India’s Home Minister has extended the validity of the Special Investigation Team constituted to dig into cases related to the Sikh genocide of 1984. The SIT was constituted on the recommendation of a team headed by former judge of Supreme Court of India Justice G.P Mathur.

Expressing satisfaction over the preliminary reports submitted by the SIT headed by senior IPS officer Pramode Asthana, Home ministry has instructed it to deeply investigate the cases and file cases against the accused culprits in appropriate courts of their jurisdiction.

Currently IPS Pramode Asthana, Justice Rakesh Kapur (Retired District and Session Judge) and ADCP Kumar Ganesh of Delhi police are members of Special Investigation Team.
