Badal Govt. Again Oppresses Freedom of Speech in Punjab

Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab—District Administration of Fatehgarh Sahib implemented a ban on the Seminar about ‘Khalistan’ to be organized by the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) on August 10. An order issued by the Deputy Commissioner Kamaldeep Singh Sangha reveals that the seminar was barred to avoid chances of disturbance of law and order in the state.

Unsurprisingly, the Punjab police of various districts detained the activists of SAD(Amritsar) in their homes. A police team of 100 constables headed by two DSP’s detained the Party Chief S.Simranjit Singh Mann in his home and also sealed his office in Quila Harnam Singh.

Simranjit Singh Mann told ‘Sikh24’ that he asked the DSP to show him the order of Judge which he failed to produce. He added that his party has sought permission for the seminar by applying to the appropriate authorities. He informed us that they were peacefully going to organize the seminar about ‘Khalistan’ to create awareness about it. But by oppressing their rights of freedom of expression and speech, Badal government has openly exposed it’s own dictatorship.

General Secretary of the Party Bhai Jaskaran Singh Kahan Singh Wala has also alleged that Punjab police is conducting raids illegally to the houses of Party workers to scare them.
