Ludhiana Police Arrests Baljinder Jindu for Defamation Against SGPC President

—Ludhiana police have reportedly arrested the Youth Akali leader Baljinder Singh Jindu with accusations of using derogatory remarks against the SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar on a social media site. ADCP Paramjit Singh Pannu informed ‘Sikh24’ that the accused is being interrogated in Ludhiana Police station.

It is noteworthy that Akali leader and Councillor Kamaljit Singh Karhwal and his supporter Baljinder Singh Jindu had a clash with SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar over admission of a student in G.G.N. College. Following the clash, Baljinder Jindu posted some derogatory remarks against SGPC President online. Makkar supporters saved the screenshots of his post and reported it at the Police station of Ludhiana. Jindu is currently lodged in a detention cell there, where he is being interrogated.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Paramjit Singh Pannu stated that the police had booked Jindu and arrested him at a checkpoint in his car. The police had registered a case against Jindu for using defamatory remarks on August 2.
