Bapu Surat Singh’s Medical Report Shows Signs of Extreme Bodily Damage

NEW YORK—Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s medical report from June 2015 has been circulating online.  Those opposed to his struggle have been deliberating spreading rumors regarding the report by making false statements.  Sikh24 is attempting to clear doubts created by misinterpretation of the report.

It is important to note that the report is from June 2015 and is based upon medical evaluations after Bapu Ji was given Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN).  TPN is used to provide the body all the nutrients it needs to survive.  The mention of TPN is found on the third page of the report.  After TPN, it is understandable why many tests would come out as normal.  However, this is not the case for Bapu Surat Singh.  Contrary to the rumors being spread, Bapu Surat Singh’s medical report shows extreme malnutrition.

Sikh24 is shedding light on some other important facts mentioned in the report which have been deliberately ignored.

  1. Report mentions that patient needs expert medical care and intensive monitoring
  2. On June 14, Bapu Surat Singh’s Blood Pressure levels were 146/86, which are significantly high. Normal BP levels are 120/80.  BP remained high on June 20.
  3. Ketones are reported negative most likely due to force feeding and TPN that took place. Note: Ketones were found present in previous medical report prior to force feeding and TPN. Ketones are result of muscle breakdown generally found when body is in nutritional deficient state and in cases of starvation.
  4. It is clearly stated multiple times that Bapu Ji has insufficient calorie intake. “Insufficient” does not mean that there is “some” calorie intake.  It simply implies that he is not getting the calories that his body needs, which could mean zero.
  5. Doctors’ opinion regarding him being alive despite the hunger strike does not take into considerations previous force feedings.
  6. Report mentions that Bapu Surat Singh has lost 30-35 kgs of body weight and that there is generalized muscle wasting/scaphoid abdomen, which means he is extremely malnourished. If Bapu Surat Singh was not undergoing hunger strike, he would not have such extensive malnourishment.
  7. Serum Albumin is clearly low. This refers to protein level in blood.
  8. Report mentions that even in hospital, Bapu Surat Singh only took liquid diet which consisted of plain water and lemon.
  9. Hypokalemia and hypophosphatemia were also reported. These are also related to malnourishment.

From social media posts, it is evident that information is being purposely misinterpreted and lies are being spread.  Report which is 45 days old is being circulated as recent to create doubts within minds of supporters.

  1. For Bapu Ji.any medical report is secondary, his primary mission is his protest to have the political prisoners free from jails of India. From the very beginning he is standing firm by his words of Ardaas & any thing else is least important for him. For God Sake, please leave him alone as he is on a noble human mission.Thanks.
