Parliamentary Board Advises Amritsar Authorities to Control Polution

2015-07-28- pollutionNEW DELHI, India—A permanent parliamentary committee has suggested some methods to the Amritsar authorities to help control air, water and noise pollution in the city. The committee has suggested the banning of DJs and loud speakers in the city after 10pm. The committee also suggested that greenery in the city should be increased to tackle the rapidly growing air pollution.

The parliamentary committee said that the rules and regulations for the noise pollution need to be implemented strictly. Expressing the deep concern over the daily production of 655 metric tons of solid garbage in the city, the committee said that the municipality should follow productive techniques to destroy the solid waste.

The committee suggested the following methods:

  • Garbage from wedding palaces like plastic bottles, polythene etc. should be managed in a technical way and should not be thrown openly on roads.
  • Industrial firms and social organizations should make efforts to control pollution in the city.
  • A pollution check certificate should be implemented, and made necessary for all vehicles. An emphasis should be laid on the increasing count of electric three-wheelers in city.
  • Traffic problems in the city should be managed as a priority as the traffic jams cause a lot of noise pollution in the city.
