BATHINDA, Punjab—Police custody and harassment of Bhai Gurdeep Singh Bathinda’s son Yadwinder Singh has continued.  He was arrested with the intention to build pressure on Bapu Surat Singh to end his hunger strike.  Yadwinder Singh was arrested near his office located close to the Bathinda bus stand on July 24 in the afternoon at 3:30pm.

Police has leveled charges of 107/151 of Cr.P.C. (Code of criminal procedure) against Yadwinder Singh.  He remains lodged in the Faridkot jail.  It has been alleged that Yadwinder Singh has been arrested to avoid disturbance of law and order in the state.  Police however has not been able to present any suitable answer as to why he was sent to Faridkot jail instead of Bathinda jail.

It is notable that six Singhs related to Bapu Ji’s struggle remain detained at the Faridkot jail. Punjab police triggered the arrests of Amritdhari Sikhs in the state following the instructions of Badal government to break the building resistance.
