Following Worldwide Protests, DSGMC Leaders Change Stance on Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa

NEW DELHI—After facing the wrath of Sikh diaspora in North America, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has extended support to Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s struggle for the release of political Sikh prisoners.

In a press note shared with Sikh24, DSGMC’s General Secretary Manjinder Sirsa said that the DSGMC fully supports the struggle of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa.  “The prisoners who have fulfilled their mandatory terms ought to be released immediately by the Government,” he mentioned.

Sirsa also claimed that the DSGMC was the first to extend its support to Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa and Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa.

Sirsa and other Akali leaders had to face strong opposition in USA and Canada for their lack of stance on Sikh political prisoner issue.  Sirsa had earlier termed Bapu Surat Singh’s struggle as “misleading”.
