Satnam Singh – Killed Yesterday in a confirmed Hit and Run incident

DERBY, UK—Bhai Satnam Singh, a devout Sikh elderly man, had been found injured just outside of Singh Sabha Gurdwara, Derby, in what police have revealed is suspected as a hit and run incident. The highly respected 74-year-old man was discovered in Coronation Street, Pear Tree, at around 5am yesterday.

Satnam Singh was severely injured and taken to the Royal Derby Hospital, where he later died.

He is understood to have been walking to the Gurdwara Sahib, as he did each day, to prepare food (Langar) for the congregation.

Local community members are shaken at the tragedy and coming together in mourning. Trained officers are helping to support the family at this time. 

Officers are trying to trace a dark hatchback car which had been seen in the area at the time of the incident. Any local garage owners are also being asked to get in touch if a damaged car has been brought in for repair.

Police detectives are appealing to speak to anyone who was in the area of Coronation Street, Princes Street, Holcombe Street or Harrington Street between 4am – 5am yesterday or anyone who saw a collision.
