Gyan Godri Sahib: Historical U’khand Gurdwara Destroyed in 1984 May be Rebuilt Later This Year

DEHRADOON, Uttrakhand—Uttrakhand chief minister Harish Rawat has assured that the land situtated on bank Ganga river would be allotted to historical Sikh shrine Gurwara Gyan Godri Sahib Haridwar this year. He also announced to include Sikh shrines Gurdwara Hemkunt Sahib and Gurdwara Reetha Sahib into the fold of newly launched “Mere Bazurg-Mere Tirath” project and establish Punjabi Academy in the hill state.

He was addressing a conference of Punjabi community residing in the state. The conference was organized in the America Hall of Race course locality.

“Uttrakhand is like a flowerpot and Punjabi community is its significant part. The state government pays special attention toward Gurdwara Hemkunt Sahib recognizing it as fifth ‘Dham’ (shrine). A helipad is also being constructed here. The straight road will also be constructed from Gurdwara Nanakmatta to Reetha Sahib”, he added.

State Minorities Commission president Narinderjit Singh, former minister Tilak Raj Beharh, MLA Umesh Sharma etc. were also present on the occasion.
