Over 15,000 Express Solidarity with Bapu Surat Singh at Hassanpur Convention; Call for Ludhiana Shut Down on July 10

LUDHIANA, Punjab—Bandi Singh Rihai Sangharsh Committee constituted to spearhead the struggle by Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa today held a Panthik convention in the Gurdwara Sahib of village Hassanpur. The motive of the convention was to deliberate upon the future strategies for the release of Sikh political prisoners.

Following the ardas for the Chardi Kala of the struggle, a number of noted personalities presented their views at the Gurdwara Sahib.  Committee convener S. Gurdeep Singh Bathinda started the convention and editor of Punjabi newspaper ‘Rozana Pehredar’ S. Jaspal Singh Heran acted as the stage secretary.

SGPC member and Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) leader S. Kulbir Singh Barapind highly appreciated the commitment and dedication of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa towards the Panth. S. Barapind said that Bapu Ji has exhibited the values to execute a struggle against state.

General Secretary of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) S. Jaskaran Singh Kahan Singh Wala said that the State’s atrocities on the Sikh detainees depict the enslaved condition of the Sikhs in India.

Addressing the Sikh sangat, S. Baljit Singh Khalsa (Vangaar) said that Bapu Ji’s struggle will collapse the anti-Panthik Punjab Government led by Badal. He said that expecting justice for Sikhs in this Indian state is like expecting milk from bull.

Admiring the role of Bapu Surat Singh’s family in this struggle, general secretary of Sikh Youth Front S. Papalpreet Singh said that the family is unique in itself. “Words fall short while appreciating the tireless efforts made by Bibi Sarvarinder Kaur (Bapu Ji’s daughter) and S. Ravinderjit Singh Gogi (Bapu Ji’s son) for the Chardi Kala of Bapu Ji’s struggle,” he added.

The convention concluded with the decision to give call for Ludhiana shut down on July 10. Sangharsh Committee’s convener S. Gurdeep Singh Bathinda informed that the meeting to chalk out the details of Ludhiana shut down program will be held on July 8.

Bathinda also informed that Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa might stop drinking water if Punjab government tries to arrest him.

Harpal Singh Cheema, Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal, Bibi Pritam Kaur, Baba Wassan Singh Zaffarwal, Bhai Mohkam Singh, Prof. Gurdarshan Singh Dhillon, Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala, Bhai Jang Singh, Bhai Bagicha Singh Waraich, Gurpreet Singh Guri, Bhai Malkit Singh Bhotna, Bhai Navdeep Singh Dhoorhkot, S. Manjinder Singh Jandi, S. Jasbir Singh Khandoor, S. Balwinder Singh Vidyarthi (SYFB Amritsar), Bhai Balwant Singh Gopala, Bhai Ranjit Singh DDT, S. Paramjit Singh Sahauli etc. were the prominent among the present Sikh leaders on the occasion.
