AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has welcomed the move of Bangladesh government wherein it has recognized Anand Marriage Act-1919.
In a statement issued here, the SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said that in India, Sikhs have to register their marriages under Hindu marriage Act which is grave injustice. He referred that in Pakistan the Act has already been implemented.
Recognizing the Act, Bangladesh government has uploaded it on website. Makkar thanked the government for meeting long pending demand of Sikhs.
