AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Sikh political prisoner Prof. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar who is serving life imprisonment, on Wednesday, was referred to Dr. Vidya Sagar Institute of Mental Health in view of seriousness of his mental ailment. Currently he is receiving treatment in Swami Vivekanand Hospital.
A special team of doctors has referred him to the advanced hospital of mental health for better medical treatment. The district administration had directed government medical college to examine health of Prof. Bhullar, following which the college constituted the 3-member committee of specialist doctors. The team comprised Dr. PD Garg, Dr. Rajiv Arora and Dr. Satpal.
As per the team, Prof. Bhullar is facing serious mental ailment that could not be treated and regular dose of medicines is sole solution of the disease. In its report, it clarified that it would be better for Prof. Bhullar to be shifted to any hospital of mental diseases and Dr. Vidya Sagar Institute is the best place.
Confirming in this regard, the college principal Dr. Santokh Singh said that the report had been sent to Pardeep Sabharwal and next action would be taken by district administration.
