KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia—Two Sikhs, a banker and a woman police officer, with expertise in banking fraud were among the panelists at a Malaysian banking summit earlier this week.
Khushwant Singh from the Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) and Supt. Harjinder Kaur from the Royal Police Malaysia, known by its Malay acronym of PDRM, were among the speakers at a panel session at the 2015 Malaysian Banking Summit.
The two-day event in Kuala Lumpur was badged by its promoters as an annual high level conference to feel the pulse of the banking sector.
Khushwant is a senior specialist for risk strategy and transformation at Maybank, the largest banking group in Malaysia by asset.
Prior to this, he had stints at Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia, Al Khalij Commercial Bank and Abu Dhabi Finance.
Khushwant is also active in the Sikh social activity circle, especially as a volunteer at Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia, a Kuala Lumpur based national Sikh youth organisation.
Harjinder heads the banking fraud unit at PDRM’s Commercial Crime Investigations Department. She joined the police force in 1977 with the rank of inspector and has more than 35 years of policing experience.
She has frequently been quoted by the local media on banking fraud matters.
