Akal Takhat Jathedar Seeks Drug Free Punjab

ANANDPUR SAHIB—Speaking at the 350th anniversary of Anandpur Sahib, Giani Gurbachan Singh (appointed Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib) asked the Sikh Sangat to work towards making Punjab a drug free state.

While addressing the Sikh sangat, Giani Gurbachan Singh said that it was a blessing for the Sikh Sangat to celebrate the 350th foundation anniversary of Sri Anandpur Sahib. He added that Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Chaar Sahibzaade, Panj Pyare and infinite Singhs resided on this sacred land.  He said that Sikh Gurus fought war against drug menace from this land and now again, growing drug abuse had become the biggest challenge for the Punjabis

He asked Sikh Sangat to play their role in ensuring drug abuse could be removed from Punjab completely.

    Given your position as Jathedar of the Akal Takht (a position that many Sikhs and I believe that you don’t deserve due to your affinity with Badals amomg other reasons), specifically, what have you done to combat this problem?

  2. If we want Drug free Punjab then, first of all the Punjab should be totally tobacco free. Current Punjab Govt. is saying that they are fighting against Drug Menace but they are the one who allowed all kind of drug related items and drugs to Punjab.
