Sikh Youth Front: Badal Not Interested in Release of Singhs, Only Constituted Committee After International Pressure

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—During a press conference, S. Papalpreet Singh of Sikh Youth Front cautioned the Sikhs that the Punjab Chief Minister was not interested in releasing Singhs.  He alleged that Badal disagrees with the release of political Sikh prisoners, however he will continue to work on this to seek credit for the upcoming elections in 2017.

“Badal constituted the committee under international pressure due to the hunger strike of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, so definitely he is not going to leave this golden chance of receiving sympathy of Sikhs by getting credit of releases,” alleged Papalpreet Singh.

Papalpreet Singh labelled the working of the Punjab Government as the “turtle approach” towards completing legal documentation for the release of Sikh political prisoners. He said that despite completion of the documentation by the Karnataka Jail authorities for the transfer of Bhai Gurdeep Singh Khaira to Punjab, the Punjab government had failed to bring him back.
