Sikh Volunteers Continue Relief Work in Nepal

LONDON, UK—Another team of Sikh volunteers representing the Nepal Disaster Relief Coalition in the United Kingdom, have flown out to Nepal.

The team consists of Manjit Singh from Sikh Relief, who will be making his second trip to project manage the ‘Housing Rebuild Project’, Harkirat Singh a volunteer with MLSS who will be helping out for the first time in a disaster relief project, and Scott Bushall who is a friend of Harkirat Singh and also forms part of the MLSS team. Scott is from Northampton and he has also spent many years studying and living in Nepal so he has a good lay of the land.

Sikh Relief alongside Midlands Langar Seva Society, Khalsa Foundation, Kaurs Corner, Sikh24.com, Lions MMA, Khalsa Bikers, Khalis Foundation and the British Sikh Council, have collectively coordinated the relief aid project in Nepal.

Nepal Disaster Relief Coalition is currently involved in:

· Rebuilding homes for displaced communities
· Removal of debris and rubble
· Providing medical assistance
· Coordinating with a team of fully qualified doctors in running the medical camps
· Distribution of free medication and drugs where required
· Working with local tradesman and suppliers to get quick and easy access to essential items, such as; tents, non-perishable foods, water, medication, sanitation equipment and temporary accommodation setup.
