Singhs Appear in Court Wearing T-Shirts With Sant Bhindranwale’s Portrait

LUDHIANA, Punjab—In case of ‘seizing’ t-Shirts on which portrait of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was printed by Vicky garments here, Challan was to be presented against Sikh activist Manvinder Singh Giaspura in court by Punjab Police.

Bhai Giaspura is also convener of Hond Chillar Talmel Committee and the case was registered against him on statement of a Hindu terrorist body Shiv Sena’s leader.

Pertinently, led by Manvinder Singh Giaspura, a group of Sikh youth wearing T-Shirts with Sant Bhindranwale’s portrait, arrived in the court. At first, Police had told that the challam would be presented on 10 AM. Later, it was told that it would be presented afternoon. But, again it failed to do so and delayed it for next day which caused disgusting situation for the Sikh youth.

Reacting on the development, Giaspura’s legal counsel Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur and Gurjinder Singh Sahni said while home department did not give permission to file case against Dalip Kumar who committed sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib under section 153A, it did so in case of Sikh youth Giaspura with immediate effect.

He said that the case is completely false and printing portraits of Sant Bhindranwale on T-Shirts was not a crime.

Giaspura said that the police harassed him whole day. He said his aides and lawyers stayed in the court whole day but the Police did not present the challan. He said he was struggling for the rights of Sikhs, thereby he is being targeted. “The Police could not defeat me in fighting for Sikh cause”, he added.

Balwant Singh Minia, Gurmel Singh Khalsa, Vasakha Singh, Jagdeep Singh Jagga, Tejinder Singh, Karnail Singh, Prabhjot Singh, Beant Singh, Manjit Singh DC and Jagroop Singh etc. also accompanied Giaspura.
