CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Former Police cat and infamous cop Gurmeet Pinki had reportedly threatened Amrik Singh, father of Avtar Singh Gola who was shot by Pinki in 2001, to withdraw write petition against him.

It is worth mentioning that Pinki who is facing life imprisonment in the murder case, was granted pre-mature release just after 9 years illegitimately. The writ petition was filed by the victim’s father with Punjab and Haryana High Court against his pre-mature release.

Amrik Singh has accused the city police is shielding Pinki instead taking action against him for threatening him.

He explained that Pinki had threatened him of dire consequences. He said the incident took place on September 20 last year when he was heading towards Cemetery Road in Civil Lines. Pinki, along with his gunmen intercepted him and told him to withdraw the writ petition. “He said if I failed to follow his orders, he would shoot me the way he shot my son,” Amrik Singh alleged.

He further said he filed a complaint with the Division No. 8 police. The then SHO, Gurdev Singh, had said the matter would be probed. The police record shows that the SHO had filed the matter stating that Pinki was not in the city on the day of the incident.
