LUDHIANA, Punjab—In order to strengthen struggle initiated by Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa for the release of the Sikh political prisoners, the Sangharsh Committee has announced to jam the railway traffic on Delhi-Amritsar track on May 31 from 12 PM to 2 PM. Besides, it has also planned to hold three ‘Vangar Marchs’ from May 25 to May 29.

The committee convener Gurdeep Singh Bathinda, Jasvir Singh Khandoor, Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala, Jathedar Tarlok Singh Dalla and Daily ‘Pehredar’ editor Jaspal Singh Heran held press conference here to announce the programme.

In the conference, the Sikh leaders expressed deep worry over deteriorating health of Bapu Surat Singh. They said that the Punjab and the Union government are not serious in meeting the demands of Bapu Surat Singh and are deliberately ignoring the sensitive issue.

They said that the government could not ignore the Sikh struggle. Condemning the act of SGPC of imposing ban on entry of struggling Sikhs in Gurdwara Amb Sahib Mohali on May 20, they demanded the SGPC president be summoned for the act at Sri Akal Takht Sahib by its Jathedar.

Explaining about the plan of ‘Vangar March’, the committee members said that three marches would be organized from Sri Akal Takht Sahib (May 25), Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib (May 27) and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Talwandi Sabo (May 29). All these processions will be concluded at residence of Bapu Surat Singh at village Hasanpur (district Ludhiana).

The Sikh activists also announced to take up the issue with international human rights organizations. Jasbir Singh Khandoor said that reinstatement of the police cat Gurmeet Pinki could not be tolerated.

It is worth mentioning that the hunger strike of old aged Bapu Jee has concluded 128th day.
