Day 109: Yogendra Yadav Visits Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa as Other AAP Leaders Remain Quiet Over Sikh Issues

LUDHIANA, Punjab—Yogendra Yadav, founder and former PAC member of the Aam Aadmi Party paid a surprise visit to Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa earlier today at Hassanpur, Ludhiana.  Yadav inquired about Bapu Ji’s health and asked questioned relating to Sikh political prisoners.  He expressed support for the struggle and stated he would help raise the issue with other political leaders.

Yadav was accompanied by a number of his associates.  A large gathering of Sikh Sangat was also present at Bapu Ji’s house throughout the day.  Singhs continued recital of Gurbani path for the success of the movement.

Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s health has worsened over the past few days.  He is unable to walk without support and requires continued assistance.

The lack of interest by Sikh leaders, especially by members of the Aam Aadmi Party has left the entire Sikh community surprised.  In past, a number of AAP leaders had expressed support to the movement initiated for the release of Sikh political prisoners, however they have gone on mute ever since Bhai Gurbaksh Singh ended his hunger strike.  Namely, Bhagwant Mann, Sucha Singh Chhotepur, HS Phoolka and Jarnail Singh (Rajouri Garden) had promised to help with the cause, however their promises seem to have shattered along with the morcha initiated by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh at Lakhnaur Sahib.

It is also important to mention that Arvind Kejriwal too had sought the release of Prof. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar on humanitarian grounds, however ever since becoming the Chief Minister for the second time, he has remained quiet over Sikh issues.
