Day 105: Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa Continues Hunger Strike Despite Weakness

LUDHIANA, Punjab—Hunger strike by Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa has concluded 105 days.  Despite being force fed and tortured by Punjab Police at the Ludhiana Civil Hospital, Bapu Surat Singh is firm about his decision and will continue the struggle until the release of Sikh political prisoners.

Yesterday, a number of Sikh leaders, including Gurdeep Singh Bathinda, Jasvir Singh Khandoor, Manjinder Singh Jandi, Dhian Singh Mand, Bhai Surinder Singh Thikriwal, Bhai Jang Singh, Bhai Pawandeep Singh, Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala, Bhai Gurpreet Singh Guri, Advocate Gurjinder Singh Sahni, Bhai RP Singh, Bibi Pritam Kaur, Bhai Papalpreet Singh, Bhai Kamikkar Singh, Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema, Bhai Sukhwinder Singh of Satkar Committee, Baba Amarjit Singh Kanakwal, Dhadi Nath Singh Hamidi and were present at Bapu Ji’s home.

The committee decided to hold next meeting in Chandigarh on May 3 to chalk out the next strategy for the success of struggle. It was decided in the meeting that a Jatha of 10 singhs will hold indicational hunger strike of 24 hours in favor of Bapu Ji every day.  The Jatha would do continuous path every day at Bapu Ji’s home.

Bhai Ravinder Jeet Singh Gogi appealed to everyone to keep supporting the struggle of Bapu Ji till the release of Sikh detainees.  For now, Gogi said that he will not return back to the United States since his father’s condition is really frail.
